Council
The Council of the Region of Queens Municipality was elected in October 2008 and will serve for four years. Councillors were elected to represent a particular electoral district, but must serve the needs and interests of all residents of Queens on a daily basis. The Mayor is elected to represent all nine electoral districts. Members are eligible for re-election if they wish to re-offer.
To offer as a member of Council, a person must be eighteen years of age at the time of nomination, reside in Queens for more than six months before nomination day, have their rates and taxes paid up and not be disqualified under the Municipal Elections Act.
